Before you get an abortion, it is helpful to have certain information and medical services completed. At Northtown Pregnancy Center these services and information are available to you free of charge in a pre-abortion assessment.
Pregnancy testing is done through a urine sample to detect the presence of hCG (a hormone that rises during pregnancy.) Learn more about pregnancy testing by clicking here.
Pregnancy is verified via an ultrasound scan. Ultrasound is important to make sure that the pregnancy is viable (developing). Up to a third or more of pregnancies end in a miscarriage. The diagnosis of a viable pregnancy via ultrasound helps you to know if a miscarriage is likely or not. An ultrasound can also determine how far along the pregnancy is. Choices about types of abortion pills or procedures may be dependent on the gestational age of the pregnancy. To learn more about Ultrasounds click here.
A nurse and pregnancy decision coach can explore different pregnancy options with you. Northtown Pregnancy Center does not benefit in any way from any decision you may make.
